Daiva is a talented photographer in her own right. I’m flattered that she’d have me out to document her beautiful family & rambunctious pup, Nacho.

WASHINGTONIANS - There are three library levy measures on the ballot in next Tuesday’s statewide election to benefit @snoislelibraries , @seattlepubliclibrary , and @spokanecountylibrary. All are labeled as Prop 1 on their ballots, all fund core library operations, all are to renew or restore funding, and all need a simple majority to pass.
Libraries do a lot more than lend books. They offer free access to internet, computers, and wifi. They teach people how to use email, write resumes, and apply for jobs. They build community. As a mom, I regularly attended storytime with my kid, and we go every three weeks to re-up on books to meet summer reading goals. Did you know that our libraries offer help with homework, online tutoring for students, and adult literacy classes? Tax prep assistance, meeting rooms to reserve. All of these are free to us regardless of income, background, or immigration status. When funding is cut, branches close, have shorter hours, and fewer staff. The library that raised you can’t do the same for your kids.
Vote YES on Prop 1, and make sure your ballot is postmarked or dropped off by 8pm next Tuesday, 8/4.
Meanwhile, enjoy some photos I made for @snoislelibraries !
A sample of faves from the years that I documented the incredible community at @ritual.house.
In honor of @bethorton `s ninth album, to be released this Friday, here`s a photo I made at the @showbox on 5/21/2003, when she touring on her fourth. She`ll be at @washingtonhall206 on 10/3/2026.
Portraits of the dynamos over at Interior Design Studio @charliehellstern including Chief Comfort Officer, Milo! On the site of one of their projects, Vitus’ Belltown HQ. Charlie teamed up with @madebyshore for a branding and website refresh last year. I first connected with Charlie in 2020 for portraits at Loom House on Bainbridge. My stylist @ryannbrady_hmu and I fell in love with her style, humor, and confidence, and it’s been a treat to continue to work together.
In honor of the last old_fire_house_teen_center concert tonight before they demo and build anew, here is a throwback photo of @_thecatch before a show in 2005, taken by my sister. L-R, @carlynicklaus, @iluvrightnow, @therevalissa, and me.
Promos for @thelindywest new book, Adult Braces, back before the braces came off. Buy it, read it, form your own opinions and have IRL discussion at @townhall_seattle TOMORROW or go see her in Austin on 4/22.

I’ve been covering more rehearsal dinners lately, and love their casual intimacy. I get to meet family & close friends early which makes it easy to identify them later on, I can document toasts that aren’t covered on the wedding day and there’s a palpable energy anticipation of what’s to come. Everyone is excited and maybe just a little bit nervous. It’s different than the celebratory momentum of a reception. Ali & Conor chose the Chef’s Table, one of Local 360’s private dining rooms, where the candlelit tables create a warmth that really adds to the experience. It’s my favorite way to light a cozy family dinner. Event Planner: Married with Michelle
Really fun show last night at the Crocodile. Death Cab played three songs off of their forthcoming album, Kintsugi, and introduced the public to two new touring band members, Dave Depper & Zac Rae.
I don’t do year-end best-of lists but if I did, Chris Staples’ American Soft would be on it. Robin Hilton of NPR agrees. You have one more chance to see him in 2014; this Saturday the 27th at The Sunset. Above is an outtake from a shoot we did together for the album’s release on Barsuk Records.
BuffyThat dog is totally a person. And your new site is rad!
JK BlackwellOh.. I love that Nacho the pup is included in this fun shoot!
