WASHINGTONIANS - There are three library levy measures on the ballot in next Tuesday’s statewide election to benefit @snoislelibraries , @seattlepubliclibrary , and @spokanecountylibrary. All are labeled as Prop 1 on their ballots, all fund core library operations, all are to renew or restore funding, and all need a simple majority to pass.
Libraries do a lot more than lend books. They offer free access to internet, computers, and wifi. They teach people how to use email, write resumes, and apply for jobs. They build community. As a mom, I regularly attended storytime with my kid, and we go every three weeks to re-up on books to meet summer reading goals. Did you know that our libraries offer help with homework, online tutoring for students, and adult literacy classes? Tax prep assistance, meeting rooms to reserve. All of these are free to us regardless of income, background, or immigration status. When funding is cut, branches close, have shorter hours, and fewer staff. The library that raised you can’t do the same for your kids.
Vote YES on Prop 1, and make sure your ballot is postmarked or dropped off by 8pm next Tuesday, 8/4.
Meanwhile, enjoy some photos I made for @snoislelibraries !
A sample of faves from the years that I documented the incredible community at @ritual.house.
In honor of @bethorton `s ninth album, to be released this Friday, here`s a photo I made at the @showbox on 5/21/2003, when she touring on her fourth. She`ll be at @washingtonhall206 on 10/3/2026.
Portraits of the dynamos over at Interior Design Studio @charliehellstern including Chief Comfort Officer, Milo! On the site of one of their projects, Vitus’ Belltown HQ. Charlie teamed up with @madebyshore for a branding and website refresh last year. I first connected with Charlie in 2020 for portraits at Loom House on Bainbridge. My stylist @ryannbrady_hmu and I fell in love with her style, humor, and confidence, and it’s been a treat to continue to work together.
In honor of the last old_fire_house_teen_center concert tonight before they demo and build anew, here is a throwback photo of @_thecatch before a show in 2005, taken by my sister. L-R, @carlynicklaus, @iluvrightnow, @therevalissa, and me.
Promos for @thelindywest new book, Adult Braces, back before the braces came off. Buy it, read it, form your own opinions and have IRL discussion at @townhall_seattle TOMORROW or go see her in Austin on 4/22.

I’ve tapped one of the raddest event planning bizzes in the bizness to help me pull off Thursday night’s opening party. Cori & Aviva of the Adventure School have a knack for turning the conventional birthday party, holiday fete, wedding or fundraiser upside down. Check out their blog, where you’ll find a recent Adventurer Profile from a...
I photographed Nudestock, an annual event organized by Fraternity Snoqualmie, a local nudist park, for the Seattle Weekly this weekend. Check out the Seattle Weekly’s website for the full set of images plus interviews with attendees. They were an extremely gracious, fun bunch of people.
the Brooklyn Bride blog gives some love to my Adventure School homies.
Once again, the Adventure School raised the party planning bar with the Henry Art Gallery’s benefit gala. A South Lake Union warehouse was transformed with the help of Berlin-based artist Jeppe Hein, who chaired the event and created a revolving angled mirror installation that transfixed anyone walking by it. Johnathan Sundstrom of Lark catered the...
More coming from this incredible party thrown by the Adventure School in a bit. The below image can be seen in this month’s Seattle Metropolitan Magazine.
