WASHINGTONIANS - There are three library levy measures on the ballot in next Tuesday’s statewide election to benefit @snoislelibraries , @seattlepubliclibrary , and @spokanecountylibrary. All are labeled as Prop 1 on their ballots, all fund core library operations, all are to renew or restore funding, and all need a simple majority to pass.
Libraries do a lot more than lend books. They offer free access to internet, computers, and wifi. They teach people how to use email, write resumes, and apply for jobs. They build community. As a mom, I regularly attended storytime with my kid, and we go every three weeks to re-up on books to meet summer reading goals. Did you know that our libraries offer help with homework, online tutoring for students, and adult literacy classes? Tax prep assistance, meeting rooms to reserve. All of these are free to us regardless of income, background, or immigration status. When funding is cut, branches close, have shorter hours, and fewer staff. The library that raised you can’t do the same for your kids.
Vote YES on Prop 1, and make sure your ballot is postmarked or dropped off by 8pm next Tuesday, 8/4.
Meanwhile, enjoy some photos I made for @snoislelibraries !
A sample of faves from the years that I documented the incredible community at @ritual.house.
In honor of @bethorton `s ninth album, to be released this Friday, here`s a photo I made at the @showbox on 5/21/2003, when she touring on her fourth. She`ll be at @washingtonhall206 on 10/3/2026.
Portraits of the dynamos over at Interior Design Studio @charliehellstern including Chief Comfort Officer, Milo! On the site of one of their projects, Vitus’ Belltown HQ. Charlie teamed up with @madebyshore for a branding and website refresh last year. I first connected with Charlie in 2020 for portraits at Loom House on Bainbridge. My stylist @ryannbrady_hmu and I fell in love with her style, humor, and confidence, and it’s been a treat to continue to work together.
In honor of the last old_fire_house_teen_center concert tonight before they demo and build anew, here is a throwback photo of @_thecatch before a show in 2005, taken by my sister. L-R, @carlynicklaus, @iluvrightnow, @therevalissa, and me.
Promos for @thelindywest new book, Adult Braces, back before the braces came off. Buy it, read it, form your own opinions and have IRL discussion at @townhall_seattle TOMORROW or go see her in Austin on 4/22.

For Stephanie & Trev’s engagement session we hopped a ferry over to Bainbridge to visit an abandoned, tagged up building they had found during a previous trip. Little did I know that these two planned to do some tagging of their own (sshhh!). Can’t wait to see what they have planned for their wedding.
StephanieYou have a gift my friend! Seriously! Thanks so much for our amazing photos.
KatieI live on Bainbridge and I have never seen this building! Where is it at?! I want to go explore somewhere new!
Thanks!

Steph & Trev’s Leavenworth Backyard Wedding | Seattle Wedding & Music Photographer[…] Steph and Trev were married in Leavenworth in Steph’s grandparents’ backyard. There is something so comfortable about a backyard wedding. By the end of the day you feel as if it is your own. They tapped one of Seattle’s favorite wedding planners, Michelle Engvall of Married with Michelle, to help bring their wild and wacky wedding plans to fruition. The wedding was the perfect representational mix of their hilarious sense of humor and good taste. Wedding programs were replicas of their faces equipped with a wooden stick to hold up in front of your own. Each of the place card settings had a different bald celebrity (for example, Andre Agassi, Patrick Stewart, Bruce Willis, Charles Barkley, and even Brittany Spears during her low period. Ha!). Robin and I ran a photobooth that not only had our usual fare (mustaches, funky glasses & creepy animal masks) but a number of extra props Stev & Trev added to the mix like lederhosen and leprechaun hats. Steph’s Papa Jim (a local Leavenworth celebrity, according to our B&B host) sang them down the aisle in his deep Johnny Cash like timber and again during the reception. Salmon Dave and his band keep the classic rock jamming into the night and just when you burned off all your dinner calories, a hot dog cart appeared to satiate your late night munchies. It’s pretty obvious that these two are fun folks to be around but I have to confirm it – they are hilarious! […]
