Spokane Engagement Session : Mireya & Steele

Mireya and Steele flew me out to Spokane for a day of exploring, eating, drinking and (oh yeah, the reason I came) photos.  It was a great opportunity to get to know them and by the evening I was bummed to be leaving my two new friends and their sweet Australian Shepherds, Chloe & Riley.  I am counting the days (98!) until their summer solstice weekend wedding in the Methow Valley.

Seattle Engagement Photos : Anne & Aaron

Ann, Aaron & I lucked out and found an uncharacteristically sunny day waiting for us at Gasworks Park.  Lots of laughter and sweet moments together. I’m bummed that I was already booked on their wedding date.

Engagement Portraits : Liz & Tom

Liz & Tom are engageed but not for long… they’re getting married tomorrow! The session was a bit last minute since they live on the east coast and are only in Seattle for a short while. We shot in Discovery Park and Liz’s mom Peggy drove us around so we could hit the best spots during the golden hours without having to get sweaty trekking around on foot (thanks Peggy!). Have you seen how huge that place is? There are some great images of them with sailboats and sunshine that haven’t been worked up yet (we did these in a rush to pump out before the wedding) so I suspect there will be a engagement session 2.0 post in the future.

Engagement Photos : Natalie & Jake

In addition to their wedding, Natalie & Jake hired me to shoot engagement portraits with the intention of making a guest book out of them for the reception. For engagement sessions, I recommend starting at a location with some personal significance. They suggested the West 5 Lounge & Restaurant, where they put in many hours when they both lived in West Seattle.

We started the day with some mimosas. Here they are during one of their funny-face-offs.

Cuddling in the back booth.

The weather looked promising so we drove over the Olympic Sculpture Park. They have these swinging pods in the Pavilion that you can climb into and test your propensity toward motion sickness.

I had them lie on the ground and peek through the hole in the bottom.

We got lucky with the train passing by. I kept yelling “hold still! slow shutter!”.

I had such a great time with these two and can’t wait to meet their friends and family!
