WASHINGTONIANS - There are three library levy measures on the ballot in next Tuesday’s statewide election to benefit @snoislelibraries , @seattlepubliclibrary , and @spokanecountylibrary. All are labeled as Prop 1 on their ballots, all fund core library operations, all are to renew or restore funding, and all need a simple majority to pass.
Libraries do a lot more than lend books. They offer free access to internet, computers, and wifi. They teach people how to use email, write resumes, and apply for jobs. They build community. As a mom, I regularly attended storytime with my kid, and we go every three weeks to re-up on books to meet summer reading goals. Did you know that our libraries offer help with homework, online tutoring for students, and adult literacy classes? Tax prep assistance, meeting rooms to reserve. All of these are free to us regardless of income, background, or immigration status. When funding is cut, branches close, have shorter hours, and fewer staff. The library that raised you can’t do the same for your kids.
Vote YES on Prop 1, and make sure your ballot is postmarked or dropped off by 8pm next Tuesday, 8/4.
Meanwhile, enjoy some photos I made for @snoislelibraries !
A sample of faves from the years that I documented the incredible community at @ritual.house.
In honor of @bethorton `s ninth album, to be released this Friday, here`s a photo I made at the @showbox on 5/21/2003, when she touring on her fourth. She`ll be at @washingtonhall206 on 10/3/2026.
Portraits of the dynamos over at Interior Design Studio @charliehellstern including Chief Comfort Officer, Milo! On the site of one of their projects, Vitus’ Belltown HQ. Charlie teamed up with @madebyshore for a branding and website refresh last year. I first connected with Charlie in 2020 for portraits at Loom House on Bainbridge. My stylist @ryannbrady_hmu and I fell in love with her style, humor, and confidence, and it’s been a treat to continue to work together.
In honor of the last old_fire_house_teen_center concert tonight before they demo and build anew, here is a throwback photo of @_thecatch before a show in 2005, taken by my sister. L-R, @carlynicklaus, @iluvrightnow, @therevalissa, and me.
Promos for @thelindywest new book, Adult Braces, back before the braces came off. Buy it, read it, form your own opinions and have IRL discussion at @townhall_seattle TOMORROW or go see her in Austin on 4/22.

I cut and sleeved negatives all weekend. Placing Robin’s negs from Christmas 2006 on the lightbox to re-sleeve, the kitsch of their current home caught my eye; “Memories Enclosed….Handle With Care”. It’s so cute I don’t know if I can take them out. They’re still on the lightbox.
As some of you know, I’ve cut back on my musical involvement to focus more on planning my (now past) wedding and the photography business. My lady Amy B moved to LA about a month ago and Nick followed a couple weeks later taking Night Canopy with them. I miss them so much but it’s...
Two lovely pouches of goodness came in the mail today from Pillows for the People; Beatrice and Evangeline. They were handmade by an old friend of mine who recently came back into view. I met Parisa at a youth group in high school and we clicked, being the only other tolerable people there. She introduced...
