WASHINGTONIANS - There are three library levy measures on the ballot in next Tuesday’s statewide election to benefit @snoislelibraries , @seattlepubliclibrary , and @spokanecountylibrary. All are labeled as Prop 1 on their ballots, all fund core library operations, all are to renew or restore funding, and all need a simple majority to pass.

Libraries do a lot more than lend books. They offer free access to internet, computers, and wifi. They teach people how to use email, write resumes, and apply for jobs. They build community. As a mom, I regularly attended storytime with my kid, and we go every three weeks to re-up on books to meet summer reading goals. Did you know that our libraries offer help with homework, online tutoring for students, and adult literacy classes? Tax prep assistance, meeting rooms to reserve. All of these are free to us regardless of income, background, or immigration status. When funding is cut, branches close, have shorter hours, and fewer staff. The library that raised you can’t do the same for your kids.

Vote YES on Prop 1, and make sure your ballot is postmarked or dropped off by 8pm next Tuesday, 8/4.

Portraits of the dynamos over at Interior Design Studio @charliehellstern including Chief Comfort Officer, Milo! On the site of one of their projects, Vitus’ Belltown HQ. Charlie teamed up with @madebyshore for a branding and website refresh last year. I first connected with Charlie in 2020 for portraits at Loom House on Bainbridge. My stylist @ryannbrady_hmu and I fell in love with her style, humor, and confidence, and it’s been a treat to continue to work together.

Roche Harbor Wedding : Hotel de Haro

Meg & Matt had a small, elopement type wedding at the Hotel de Haro in Roche Harbor Resort up on San Juan Island. Meg had a particular vision and hand crafted almost every last detail. She made her dress, birdcage veil, lace jacket, her bouquet. Matt had his share of accessories from the first half of the century as well. I felt as if we had stepped back into another time.
