Taken in & around the Blue Lagoon, Svartsengi Power Station, Blue Lagoon Clinic, Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja Church, Reykjanesvirkjun Geothermal Power Plant and Gunnuhver Hot Springs. First four shots belong to one of Robin’s sleepless nights.
eating all the burritos I can fit in my belly and photographing awesome people. I may be a little late with the emails and the phone calls.
For our anniversary (two years!) Robin & I packed up the kids and took a quick trip out to the Olympic Peninsula. Some shots from the Hoh Rainforest area and Ruby Beach.
A few months back Robin and I flew to Puerto Rico for a family trip. Mom and Dad came out from California and Jodi & Jon flew out from the Bronx. We rented a condo in Humacao and took our usual day trips to Luquillo, El Yunque, Caguas (where the Jimenez family is from) and Old San Juan.
Humacao
Mofongo is a traditional dish of mashed plantains stuffed with your choice of meat.
My parents still love to get down. Where did you think I got it from?
El Yunque
Luquillo Beach
Luquillo is known for it’s many kioskos (kiosks) that line the road. You can take respite from the sun while having a cold drink or some fried food.
Jessica and her sister were eating in the back patio of the kiosko next door.
Cashiers at the local supermarket in Humacao count their drawers at the end of the day.
On the way to Caguas.
My grandparents’ grave.
The street and house where my grandparents lived in Caguas.
My cousin Kikito still lives next door.
La Bombonera in Old San Juan. The arroz con pollo here is incredible. Be sure to get it with platanos maduros (sweet plantains).
walking to El Morro.

ArielOk, so these are obviously amazing, but Paris is amazing. You know what’s REALLY remarkable to me? That your photos of places like fucking Lake City Way and White Center manage to make those places look just as intriguing as France. Mindblowing.

Ryan Youngoh, paris. i love you so. i need to go back.
James MoesThese last two vacation posts are so good. And they really make me want to up and purchase two tickets and fly with Katherine to Europe. Just the right amount of tired, weary, wandering with just the right amount of energy for these photos, for these moments, for these compositions, for these memories. I’ll take the bird flying from the bush for my wall, thank you very much.
serenaJ’adore! The first 6 images made me stop in my tracks. Beautiful photos. So evocative.
AndreaAbsolutely brilliant photos of Paris. Love the one of the crazy looking bird in the Jardin des Tuileries.
